These are vocabulary lessons related to specific bodily concepts. The lessons covered directly tie to the sensory integration skill of interoception. Interoception is our interpretation of bodily cues. These cues let us know what our bodies need or how we may be feeling. For example knowing if our stomachs have a full, strong feeling then we may need to use the bathroom. Difficulties with interoception can lead to difficulties labeling and identifying our own emotions.
Interoception is most commonly worked on by Occupational Therapists. However, as Speech Language Pathologists, we can support this skill development through language modeling and teaching concepts related to bodily sensations
