Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC):

We provide evaluations and intervention for AAC. Individuals who may benefit from AAC include nonspeakers, minimal speakers (speak only a few words/phrases), and intermittent or unreliable speakers (may not be able to speak sometimes or may not always be able to say everything they want). We embrace a multi-modal communication approach and teach clients about spoken language, AAC, and nonverbal means such as pointing, guiding, and more.

Gestalt Language Development (Delayed Echolalia):

Delayed echolalia is the use of language the individual has heard from another source such as movies, a show, music, or even lived experiences. This is also known as Gestalt Language Processing or Development or you may have heard the term scripting. This language holds large meaning to the individual and can sometimes sound out of context or "off topic." We can help determine the meaning of this language and make moves towards self-generated language.

Neurodiversity Exploration:

A passion area of The Communication Classroom is helping clients explore their brain, listening preferences, communication preferences, and social preferences. We will help you explore options in these categories, develop an advocacy plan for them, and problem solve through any difficulties that may arise. Our goal is always for our learners to understand themselves, what they need, and how to access it.
